Over the last decades, biology has evolved from the qualitative and descriptive science of the past centuries. In particular, the trend to apply physical methods in biological research allows for the examination of complex inter-and intracellular systems in new ways. The re-examination of these biological systems has taken on enormous importance and helped to initiate not only a new interdisciplinary nature of academic issues but also ideas for future applications of these innovative approaches and findings.
The 625-year anniversary of the University of Heidelberg provides a suitable framework for the exchange of ideas and innovations at the intersections between the various traditional sciences in this new research field.
Therefore, from July 3-6 July 2011 an international conference on "Cellular Nano-Sciences" will be held here in honor of this occasion.
