Research interests

The research interests in our group focus on Hsp70 and Hsp90 chaperones, their cochaperones and their native protein substrates. We try to understand how these chaperones work on a molecular level, how the dynamics of these proteins contributes to their mode of action, how they interact with cochaperones and how this interaction changes the dynamics of the chaperones, and finally what the chaperones do to their substrates and how this action regulates stability and function of the substrates. To analyze the dynamics of proteins we use amide hydrogen exchange in combination with high-resolution mass spectrometry and fluorescence spectroscopy. To analyze the chaperone function in vivo we use E. coli and yeast as model systems.
