Full Professorship (W3) in Novel Computing Technologies

The Institute of Computer Engineering (ZITI) at Heidelberg University invites applications for a tenured Full Professorship (W3) in Novel Computing Technologies.

ZITI is searching for a scientist with a strong interest and a proven research record in computing with architectures that go beyond the traditional von Neumann approach. Fields of research include, but are not limited to on-chip massively parallel computing, near memory computing, optical computing, analogue computing, quantum computing, neuromorphic computing, DNA computing, and computing with nano-scale devices. The ability to couple novel technologies and architectures with digital systems, enabling data exchange and heterogeneous processing is particularly important.

This professorship is assigned to the department of Physics & Astronomy and is located at the Institute of Computer Engineering (ZITI). Novel computing approaches thrive best in collaborative projects and Heidelberg University offers an excellent research environment in this area with the Institute for Computer Engineering (ZITI), the Center for Quantum Dynamics (CQD), the new European Institute for Neuromorphic Computing (EINC), the Center for Advanced Materials (CAM)and many others. The research proposal should outline collaboration opportunities.

The successful candidate is expected to participate in the master program in computer engineering and bachelor and master programs in computer science and physics.

Prerequisites for application are a university degree and (in accordance with Article 47, paragraph 2 of the Higher Education Law of the State of Baden-Württemberg) a Habilitation, a successfully evaluated junior professorship or equivalent qualification. The University of Heidelberg seeks to achieve a higher proportion of women in areas where they have not been adequately represented so far. Women with the required qualification are particularly encouraged to apply.

Preference will be given to disabled applicants with equal qualifications for the position.
